About Mike Anthony

From a young age, Mike was captivated by the energy of rock & roll. Growing up in Southern California, he was glued to the legendary KRLA 1110 AM in Pasadena, soaking in the voices of radio icons like Wolfman Jack, Art Laboe, Dick Hugg “Huggy Boy”, and “The Burner” Humble Harve Miller. These voices didn’t just entertain him they shaped him. Inspired by their rhythm, spirit, and storytelling, Mike carried their influence into his own journey behind the mic.

In the early 1990s, Mike became a disc jockey at a well-known Oldies-themed nightclub in Southern California. There, he honed his ability to read a room, blend tracks with heart, and bring generations together through timeless music. That same energy flows through every episode of his show.

Long Beach listeners now have a fresh way to enjoy the golden age of music, thanks to Heart and Soul Oldies — a new radio show on KLBP 99.1 FM and streaming worldwide at KLBP.org.

Hosted by Mike Anthony, the program celebrates the timeless sounds of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Anthony’s love for oldies goes back decades — he once spun records as a DJ at The Hop in Lakewood and at Bill Medley’s club in Fountain Valley.

Inspired by the legendary KRLA “Heart and Soul” era, Anthony carries forward the spirit of iconic DJs like Wolfman Jack, Art Laboe, Dick “Huggy Boy” Hugg, and Humble Harve Miller. Each Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to noon, listeners can tune in for hand-picked classics, rare gems, and the kind of radio personality that’s hard to find today.
